How Online Sessions Work
You book the same way as an in-person session — reach out to a specific therapist or use our matching form. You'll receive a secure video link ahead of your appointment, join from any private space with a device and internet connection, and the session runs the same 50 minutes as an in-person visit.
Private and Secure
Sessions are held over Zoom, with a secure, private link sent ahead of your appointment. Sessions are never recorded.
All the Therapists Here Offer Online Sessions
All seven therapists at Southern Ontario Counselling see clients online — filter by concern rather than format to find the right fit. Find a Therapist →
Fees Are the Same, Online or In-Person
Online sessions are billed at the same rate as in-person sessions with the same therapist — there's no discount or premium for meeting by video. We provide a receipt for every session, the same as in-person. See fees and insurance →
Common Questions
Is online therapy really as effective as in-person?
Research supports the effectiveness of video-based therapy for most concerns. The relationship with your therapist, not the format, is what matters most — and that can be built just as well over video.
What technology do I need?
A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer) and a reasonably stable internet connection.
What if my connection drops during a session?
Your therapist will reconnect with you by whatever method is fastest — usually rejoining the video call or switching to a phone call briefly. This happens occasionally and isn't something to worry about.
Is online therapy covered by insurance?
Yes, the same way in-person sessions are — most extended health plans that cover RSW or RP services don't distinguish based on format. Confirm with your insurer if you're unsure. See fees and insurance →
Can I switch to in-person later?
Yes, if your therapist offers in-person sessions at our St. Agatha office. Talk to them about switching formats.
